Does this mean I got rejected, or is there still a "chance"?

Posted this once before, but didn't really get any answers!

Alright so long story short, I graduated high school with a 1.7 GPA, never took SATS, went to my local community college and earned a 3.2 GPA for the last 3 semesters. However, I only earned 35 credits, so far. I applied to the University of Pittsburgh back in January with low hopes - I have a horrible educational background and I definitely thought I was going to be rejected right off the bat; but it was worth a shot. I received a letter in the mail today that stated that it has been requested that they receive one more thing from me to have my application reviewed again, and that is my spring semester transcript. Then they will decide the status of my application. So when I finish in May, I have to get that sent right away. My personal essay was pretty deep because I have a very, very personal reason as to why I desire to go to this college - I truly think that helped a lot.

MY QUESTION IS...

If they were going to reject me based on lack of credentials, would they have sent me a rejection letter instead of putting me on hold until they see my final grades? No one really knows the answer to this question, and I'm not sure if I should have high or low hopes...

Please help

If your spring grades are high, I think you have hope.

Pitt likely has rolling admissions, if they were going to reject you they would have done so and not asked for more information. You’re on the bubble and they want to see how your sp grades look before they give you a final answer. Good luck!

I am a Cal State transfer applicant in a similar situation. I have been asked for my spring transcripts as well, but I have not been accepted yet. Good luck with everything! Do well this spring!
