Does this mean im accepted?

im with you Cr_Book...but maybe Flong's theory aforementioned is trueish

^ I still wouldn't worry about it... We all know that the UCSD admissions process is based on a points system, and over 70% of the points comes from academics. So right away if you have an above average GPA and/or test scores you're already ahead of a lot of people. If these people with lower stats than you are getting this pretty optimistic-sounding e-mail, I think you can be pretty optimistic about your own admittance, too.

thanks Raychul...sweet of you to say, hopefully true...i want to secure sd,but my hope/dream is LA

does anyone know if these are the only emails that are gonna be sent out?..will there be more tomorrow or in a few days?

well for those who have really good stats, what is ur intended major? I do believe location has to do alot with who got the emails but many ppl would be willing to drive over the weekend to attend something like this from SD. with those who have good stats are you like engineering or econ? a major SD is known for? that might be why u guys got it

yeah or bio-esque majors

Must I reiterate? As flong said, it's sent to those who UCSD actually has a chance of recruiting: the low tier 2 and tier 3 applicants.

Unless I'm mistaken, no tier 1 (Scholar's Day invitees) were sent the e-mail.

*All the business about tiers - I'm working off of the Berkeley model where admits are down to tier 3 with the majority of applicants being in the lower tier 4, and a few low applicants in tier 5.

Are you serious? :/

I really think that the 'theory' is pathetic.

I fail to see evidence against his theory.

Well there are members here with high scores who got the e-mail.

well okay BabyBlue. Instead of calling my ideas pathetic, why dont you explain why a large portion of better applicants have not gotten this email yet ppl wiht lower stats, those who are more likely to matriculate to UCSD rather then ppl with 4.1 and 2000+ who have shots at UCLA and Cal have not? Yes, a few ppl with good numbers got it but those ppl were not only in bay area, but are very few in number when compared to a majority of who have gotten it.

I'd like to hear your view and then we'll see whose is more pathetic.

Define "high scores."

Well this whole thread is a real confidence booster for us who live in the bay-area and havent gotten a letter =(

they should just release the decisions already.
they have all this time to mail invitations to bay area people, but no time to release admissions.

It's neat and trendy to delay one's admissions decisions until the end of March because that's when Berkeley does it. UCLA even tried to one-up them by planning to release on the 30th.

@quikslvr45: You could be overqualified and not have gotten the letter. There seems to be not a substantial amount of reasoning behind the letters, so don't fret.

let's not worry, barring theories or analyzing, let's be confident in our ability and hope decisions are any day now.

sql, yeah my friend from berk was mad when he found that out...lol

he said that he wanted to call berk to tell them to make sure to release AFTER la, but then he decided he didn't want to get murdered by my friends and i

most of us think it'll be well before the 30th, with regents notification probably being the 30th...who knows though, hopefully.

yeah, 4 days from right now would be nice

I got this e-mail, and I got the UCLA Regents letter, and Regents Scholarship from UCSB. Does this not disprove the theory that only people who SD believe cannot get into Cal and UCLA are sent this e-mail? I mean seriously, they probably didn't get to sending them all yet!
