I got a message from the Lafollette School of Public Affairs saying, "your department has recommended you for admission, the Graduate School will be reviewing your file." Is this an admission offer? It sounds good but I don't want to get excited until I know for sure.

This is not technically an offer of admission, but it's close. The Graduate School is a bunch of administrative folks who have to make sure every element of your application is correct and complete (your transcripts are not forged, etc.).

But the department wants to offer you admission, so if the Graduate School says everything is ok, then you will get an actual offer.

Slightly premature congratulations to you!

Thanks Professor X, and I do want to say that I've read a lot of your responses to threads over the course of my graduate school search, application process, etc. All have been very helpful!

That's very kind, JRabas24, thank you.

All I hope to do on these boards is demystify the process a bit. As I well remember, it's nerve-wracking enough!

I got an email like that from Wisconsin as well (different department), got the official Ok less than a week later.

I haven't received my official acceptance yet...but I did receive and e-mail that went to "accepted Lafollette students" for an invitation to visit the campus in April...I want that letter in my hands!

I got my letter today actually, if you have an online account I would check that. You'll get the official acceptance there before you get it in the mail.

Have you guys gotten things asking for immunization records from your schools?
