Does this of EC's/Community service look good?

I'm going to be a sophomore in the fall, and I totally screwed up freshman year by having absolutely no involvement in my school. I wasn't in any clubs and forgot to do community service! This fall though I will be doing everything I can to make up for last year.

Would the following list of EC's/Community Service look good/be enough for Stanford, Caltech, and UCBerkeley? Those are my dream schools, and I plan to do this stuff within 3 years so I can write it on my college apps.:

EC's
• Student Body: Commisioner of Technology (12)
• High School Tech Staff member (10, 11, 12) (letterman 2 times)
• Webmaster of school's website (11, 12)
• I have professional computer certifications such as: A+, SCNP
• Indo-Pak Club (10,11,12 Vice President)
• Basketball (10 Freshman/Soph, 11 JV, 12 V) (letterman)
• Volleyball (10 JV, 11 JV, 12 JV) (letterman)
• National Honor Society (10, 11, 12)
• California Scholarship Federation (10, 11, 12)
• Job: designed websites for the public, including city's police department (11-12??)
• Job: worked at Micro Center (11, 12)

Community Service
• Volunteered year round at city hospital (10, 11 Vice president of Volunteer Program, 12 President of Volunteer Program)
• Volunteered at city's Boys and Girls club
• Volunteered at community's "Kids Klub" (child development center)

As you can see there is nothing with the "(9)" next to it because I totally screwed up freshman year!

I plan to take 10 AP's total, if I get a good GPA, do I have a shot at Stanford, Caltech, UCBerkeley?

I need Hours for your CS.

Let's say almost 1000?

anyone????

ur fine, u show committment, dont worry bout it

ECs is only one part of your application. It's not as important as grades and test scores. Without knowing those there is no way of saying what your chances are.

sup, in the post I said "If I got good grades (4.0) would this be able to get me into Stanford, caltech or UCBerkeley."

B-u-m-p come on ppl help me! read the first post in this thread

Those list of ecs are not impressive. And many people who apply to those schools may have over 1000 hours of Cs, its gonna be really competitive at your time.

How are they not impressive? What mroe do I need?

they r fine, dont worry yourself, u have enough. Just get passionate about a few of them, idk if you are already or what but show you are passionate about what you do. But i dont think u neeed to do anythin else, it will start to look like a laundry list if u keep adding them

Hold on just a minute. None of that is concrete. You have already stated that you are a letterman and that you will volunteer here and be VP. YOU HAVEN'T DONE IT YET. YOu can't just assume

buddy, don't get crazy wth the hours!

If you have 300-400 hours in one particular field you show passion for by the time you finish HS, - you're golden.

sr6622, I kno I haven't done it yet, but the VP part, I'm pretty sure I will be, because there's only one candidiate im going against for president, and if i don't get president, then i'll surely be VP. Letterman I'll probaly get, not sure.

once again, your a sophomore, take a breath and do whatever you want, if you're a decent person who isn't naturally boring like a lot of other people, you were destined to go to a top school (if you have good grades) .

im a sophomore yes, but i think it's effective to start planning early

"Those list of ecs are not impressive." cliff_hanger

Listen, if you want to stand out, you must do ecs outside your school. Dont join those "fake" ecs at school because they are useless and you can make a significant difference through them. Also thousands do those ecs you listed. Not helpful. Indo-Pak club and NHS are crap. Trust me. Adcoms will roll their eyes if they see that on your resume. I like that webmaster thing you are doing. Start a web designb business and make huge profits, the donate to third world countries. Its not impossible.I am doing something very similar. Do sports if you intend to get recruited. What are you passionate about? Show something HUGE that you can do with it. Remember, try not to join school clubs unless you can make a massive impact on the community with the.

If you have any questions, PM me, or post here.

If you have 300-400 hours in one particular field you show passion for by the time you finish HS, - you're golden.

Hours matter. Trust me. More hours shows more committment. Anybody can do 300 hours in 4 years nowadays. i did 2000 in 2 years.

Ok, I PMed you.
