I am a up and coming student, meaning I started off very weak in my 9th grade year and have been on a major upward swing ever since. I am taking IB'S and in my senior year will have an all IB curriculum. Over the summer I am taking pre calc and physics and doing a habitat for humanity project in Latin America and will continue my part time job when I return and go to school. I will end up with a strong end of the year report card for 11th grade and hopefully go in even stronger into my senior year (the reason I am not applying early anywhere so as to show the schools as much of my senior year as possible) and my SAT's are looking really good, on all my timed and seated practice tests at a testing center I am hoovering around 2000-2100. My goal is a 2180. So that said, I was a late bloomer, not taking away from that but more than making up for lost time the best way I can.

I didn't realize until someone pointed out that, the fact that neither of my parents went to college is fairly weighty in my case from an admissons standpoint. My dad went for one year and then couldnt' afford it and had to work and my mom didn't go at all. Is this something that will help me? I always thought it would work against me? But those in the know are saying this will indeed help me very much. Do I list this on my app. or will they just deduct as much once they see what I have listed as their educational history?

Any input you might have is appreciated. I am learning so much as I go along and this board has been an amazing source of information and inspriation. Thanks!:)
