I'm a senior so I've basically finalized my list, but I could still though another RD school in there. I'm thowing this out there:

-Northeast/Mid-Atlanic but not ridiculously cold (I'm from the Northeast and most of the schools I have applied are in the South due to cost mostly)
-Not rural or semi-rural; a medium sized town is fine, as long as its not in the middle of nowhere
-Not huge (less than 15000 or so)
-Good looking campus
-Not a tech school or any school where most kids have to same or similiar majors
-Competitive in terms of admission but not uber-competitive (ie. most kids top 15-20% of HS, 1250+ on SATs)
-Offers merit money and isnt terribly expensive in the first place
-Has an environmental studies and/or science major

You'd think it'd be simple but I've more or less given up

Try James Madison instead of UVA. Nice environmental management major, strong in other sciences too, but not "techy." The stats you described fit, even for out of state applicants, reasonable price, attractive campus, very happy students.

Other options worth a look: University of South Carolina, the College of Charleston, St. Mary's College of Maryland (Maryland's public liberal arts college - very strong environmental science program), and the University of Delaware.

I meant to say: offers merit money OR isn't terribly expensive in the first place. I supposed both would work as well. BTW, no edit option is REALLY annoying

laxguy8947, I applied early to UVA lol. Hopefully I'll get in, but OOS chances are not so hot.

James Madison.... I'd rather it be a bit more competitive and smaller. I'm thinking I have enough southern schools. I did look into College of Charleston and it seems nice but the gender are quite out of balance and its very typical southern, which isn't really me. UD, idk
