Yesterday I found out that I didn’t get into an Internship that I applied for at the Metropolitan Museum instead of moping around about it i’m trying to make it almost a good thing- first of all I have no intentions of going into a career that has anything to do at all with art or art history, and friends who have done it in the past have said that it’s just “ok.”
Anyways, I just applied for an internship at Hillary Clinton’s campaigning HQ in Brooklyn- i’m not sure when i’ll hear back from them but my guess is sometime within the next two weeks since they’re looking for both Spring & Summer interns. If I get that it would be great and really exciting though i’m not sure about what kind of hours or workload, for lack of a better term, there will be. Whether or not I get the internship, I would like to possibly take some type of language course- currently i’m in my 5th of year of French at school, next year it will be my 6th, but i’ve also recently begun to learn Arabic, which is something I definitely would like to pursue in the future and in college.
I posted a thread asking whether or not taking any edX (MOOCS) courses would have any impact on the college admissions process, most people said no even though I still think colleges would be impressed to see a student take those that pertain to their area of interest or intended major. I want to go into International Relations so i’m thinking that taking one of the courses for Georgetown (my top school) and maybe another IR heavyweight would not only be good for an application, but would be helpful when I have to write my essays.
So how do these things sound? I was really trying to avoid having my parents spend a few grand on one of those pre-college programs and it seems a little too late now to get a job besides babysitting. Tell me your opinons and also what you’re doing over the summer!
