Does this sound okay?

Hey guys, I'm new and I just wanted to get an opinion on my answer for the common app section:
"Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences in the space below (1000 character maximum)."

I am a member of the HIP club (Health Information Project) and I wanted to elaborate on that in case they didn't know what it was. This is what I wrote:

" The Health Information Project trains its Peer Health Educators to speak to younger students about vital health topics. Following each after-school training session, we present the topic of the month to freshman classes during school. Realizing that most students I have spoken to are not initially aware of the crucial topics we discuss in class has opened my eyes to the importance of the Health Information Project. The majority of students we teach make decisions without knowledge of the consequences they have on emotional and physical health. Many students simply don’t know where to go for help with a particular situation. Having a teenager inform other teenagers about these matters makes it much less intimidating for students to ask real questions about problems they may be facing. Despite the lack of mandatory health education that is now prevalent in our Florida public school system, we can still give students the knowledge to make healthier choices for their lives. "

I am worried that it sounds like an advertisement for the club and doesn't give insight into my character. Do you think it sounds okay?
All answers appreciated
