Does TOEFL serve the same purpose in impressing colleges as the SAT does?

For example- If I get a top result on TOEFL and get a moderate result on the SAT.
Can I get accepted or get a scholarship in a college in U.S?

Toefl isn’t that kind of a test. It’s just to make sure that you can actually converse in english and you know how to express yourself using the english language, nothing more.

TOEFL is the basic test to prove you are somewhat functional in English and can survive in the English-speaking academic+living environment; serves a very different purpose than the SAT.

hm, if you already have to take the TOEFL, it means that your SAT is deficient. At most top schools, if your SAT is anywhere near competitive in their pool, the need to take TOEFL is waived. So having to take TOEFL already means you’re being outcompeted by tons of internationals who, believe me, are coming in with stellar scores. so the answer is no. TOEFL doesn’t impress anybody by itself (and to a large extent, neither does any other test)

Some schools still have you take TOEFL even if your CR is 800, because they want to test your listening and speaking abilities. And no, having TOEFL is not “deficient by itself”.
