Does transfering to a CC while I figure out what UC I want to go to look bad?

I am a first year student attending a UC and I really really hate it here... I wanted to attend a CC for the fall 2010 semester and possibly the spring 2010 semester while I apply to other UC's. I hope to someday attend medical school, and am extremely worried that this would look horrible. I really would prefer not to stay at my UC next semester, but if it is the best thing for me then I am willing to sacrifice. I have heard from multiple people that it sounds like a bad idea, but I'm still not convinced that it is. Can someone give me some advice about this?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Umm… I wouldn’t do it. What UC do you attend? Anyways, since you’re premed you’re GPA should be high so maybe you could hang in there for another year or so and apply to another UC or college of you’re choice (as a junior transfer).

However medical schools love high GPA’s so if you think you can do better or excel at CC, do it. Just make sure you make up for it (really high GPA and attend a good UC)

which UC are you at now? I know someone who went to UCI and hated it, left for a year to cc and then went to UC davis

it will increase your odds of getting into a UC as CC students get first priority. I’m not sure about med school but it probably wouldn’t really matter.

I go to Quinnipiac right now… I would like to transfer to Stony Brook University which is actually local to my hometown.

My grades last semester were not as high as I would have hoped because I was sick a lot and was sent home for it multiple times. I really think I could do better at the CC for the time being… but I’m really worried that it would be looked down upon when applying to medical school… isn’t it considered to be taking a step back in my education?? going from UC to CC??

For this page, UC Transfers = University of California transfers. What everyone said here was right, but for U of Connecticut, the case might be different.

Oh my gosh I am so sorry I never really use this website and I read other places that people use UC to refer to university college and CC for community college… I’m sorry for the misunderstanding!!!

I feel really stupid right now!!! I’m so new to all of this college talk terminology

Not a big deal (to me at least). But if you didn’t do so hot last quarter/semester… you probably should go to a CC for the time being. Average GPA for good med schools is around a 3.7-8.

Do whatever you gotta do to keep those grades up… But you’re right. Quinnipiac just sounds boring… you should do UC’s!!

I gave up on my med school aspirations about a month ago. The happiest month of my life so far lmao. I have so much respect for the kids that grind it out through the premed requirements. I just got bored of it; I simply lack a passion for medicine.
