I have a simple question...would it be a bad idea if you started out at a Community College like MPLS CC (for one year) and then transferred to the state flagship UMinn-Twin Cities (for one year) and then have the intent to transfer to other high tier/ranked schools such as Emory, WashU in St.Louis, UMD-college park & the like etc.?

Would this look bad on your behalf & record to the adcoms or in general...? would i be better of staying at my local CC for 2 years?

break down:

1 year @ Minneapolis CC or other Local CC

1 year @ state flagship UMN-Twin Cities (MPLS/St.Paul)

other 2 years @ other school of choice e.g. : Emory, WUSTL,etc.

Answers would be HIGHLY appreciated! thank you! :)

If they accept you, not a problem to me.

I wouldn’t suggest transferring more times than you have to. Transferring is worth it, but is a pain. Plus, when applying for junior year you might want to ask professors from your first year to write you rec letters, and that would be difficult if you changed schools.

^ thank you for your input. I really appreciate it :)

But nobody has answered my question yet if my plan was a bad idea or not. Maybe i should stick with the 2yrs @ the CC then transfer…

I am transferring twice because am sick of my CC but am only going for the Spring '11 semester. By that time I would have already applyed for the schools I want to go too.

I don’t think transferring twice is bad, but if you spent 2 yrs at a CC your life would be easier.(Am not referring to the coursework) You’ll save a ton of money and you don’t have to worry about making a new set of friends.
