I took a look at the website and it said that adcoms start reading apps in order of arrival starting Dec. 1. If I turn in my app in the next few days, does it mean I have less admissions chance because slots have already been filled?

You should be fine. Someone else correct me if i'm wrong, but the initial readthrough that began on Dec 1st i assume is just the regional admissions officer. No decisions are made until apps go to committee which won't happen until after all apps are read through. You are fine. the dec 1 deadline was just something to make it easier for them so they had longer to read apps since they got rid of early

^so initial readthrough is just to weed out the applicants who are really unlikely to get in?
