Does U.Va Recalculate HS GPA?

Does U.Va Recalculate HS GPA?; If so, how do they do it?? 100-95 A, 100-93 A, or 100-90 A?

well if they did 100-95 = A then i don't think i would have had a single A on my hs transcript. so probably not.

I would doubt they recalculate HS GPA unless the scale is really biased. If they do, then it would be 100-90 A.

My HS doesn't give the exact grades so I think it would be impossible for them to recalculate grades in the way you think. Maybe seeing what your unweighed GPA is would be a possibility... But probably not.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: We look at the high school profile (your school sends it with your transcript) to see how your grading system and GPA calculation works to help interpret your transcript.

Grade distribution charts are also very interesting. I remember seeing a school where getting well over 100 as an average was common (we're talking 110-115 average on the distribution chart).

Of course, as hazelorb mentioned, there are plenty of schools on a completely different scale...even some that don't have grades at all.

k, thx for the responses!
