Does UC app allow you to submit supplemental materials?

this includes research papers, etc

No, it does not. They won't factor in any research papers, letters of recommendation, etc. that they get in the mail from you.

^Not absolutely true.

In some rare instances Cal--and only Cal, to my knowledge--asks SOME VERY FEW students to fill a "Supplement to the UC Application". In it you must answer around 14 questions essay-type fashion.

You are HIGHLY encouraged to state your fall semester courses and grades, and also the courses you intend to take during spring (since it's high school they should be pretty much the same!).

Ummmm....let me see....oh, right. You also are HIGHLY encouraged, again, to request a teacher, counselor or school administrator to fill an online letter of recommendation. I think that counts as a supplemental material.

However, they don't ask for anything else. So, research papers and/or extra stuff is not allowed.

Like I said, this is in very rare cases. Don't expect to get it. But if you do, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!
