Does UC Berkeley check freshmen year???? (high school)

Alright, it’s currently 2 am here and please excuse how rushed this post is because I’m not in the mood of detailing this post but do Freshmen grades really count? I have a D+ in English but I believe it’ll raise over a C+ or higher after I get my essay and quizzes ready to be uploaded as well as the finals project which I believe will get at least over an A-. Unfortunely, I have 2 C’s (One in math and the other in p.e). After studying for hours to prepare myself for the finals for math as well as the handouts and what I’ve covered for P.E, I also believe both of my grades will raise minimally to a B- or higher. Surprisingly, I have an A- in Biology (bad quiz scores but still an A) and a B in Spanish (Also believe it’ll raise to a B+ or higher if I actually take the final project and finals seriously) B in computer science but it should raise to a B+ or an A- because i put a shit ton of work (quality over quantity ez a). After learning the mistakes I made, I will now take semester 2 seriously and try my best to aim for A’s (meaning the first day of semester 2, I will do homework once I get back from home and actually study for tests and quizzes). So does freshmen year actually count to UC Berkeley. I really want to go to UC Berkeley as it is the only dream college I want to go (mainly to major in computer science and maybe engineering if I actually try in math and improve my math skills).

Your post was really hard to read.

Separate it into paragraphs.

Are you currently a freshman? That’s what I have gathered.
First of all, if you are not a Californiia resident, it will be tough-money wise and GPA wise.
UCB is very tough to get into, even with perfect grades and perfect SATs.

The UC’s use your 10th and 11th grade coursework to determine your preparation for admission, but your overall GPA is considered. You need to consider the classes you will be taking in sophomore and junior year. Most of these should be APs or honors-like. If you are having trouble now, like in the sequential classes such as Spanish, it will only become more difficult.

GPA and test scores are “King” in admissions. You really need to step it up. Berkeley gets hundreds of thousands of applications, not just from California, but from all over the world. Make sure you have safeties.

All of this information is available on the website, use it to plan and prepare your high school schedule.

As @aunt bea stated in the above post, you really need to buckle down and get very good grades from now on to have a chance at UCB. Only 10-11th grades are calculated into your UC GPA, but Freshman and Senior grades are considered to make sure you meet the UC a-g course requirements and you need C or higher for all these classes.

Remember, UCB is only one school out of many in the UC system and California. Do your best and explore the many school options available in the next few years.

A D grade will disqualify that semester from counting toward a-g requirements.

Also, UC admissions readers will see all of your high school courses and grades, even though the GPAs are calculated starting with 10th grade courses.

Thank you so much to everyone for putting their time to comment below my post. Next semester, I REALLY really hope to see myself aiming for A’s and prioritizing everything on school.
