Does UC favor intercampus transfer more rather than transfering from a different university?

For example is it easier to transfer from UC Santa Cruz to UCLA than from Penn state at university park to UCLA?

The usual priority for transfers goes like this: CCC to UC, UC to UC, CSU to CSU, 4 year in-state private/OOS 2 or 4 4 year to UC.

why do they favor ccc to uc more than others do

CCC’s are given priority since you cannot get a 4 year degree at a CC while being at a UC, you are on track to get a 4 year degree

Plus, originally, CC was part of the “CA master plan” for those who do not meet the requirements from high school or have the financial means to attend college for 4 years. to first attend a CC and then transfer to a UC or CSU. This is a way to guarantee admission to the best universities in the country for all who work hard and meet the requirements. The plan guarantees admission transfer to a UC or a CSU to complete a bachelor’s degree. This plan has been modified from its original form but, overall, it still works the same.

can someone please tell me the requirement or sent me the website that shows the requirements for the intercampus transfer requirement?

You can use assist.org where you select your target UC and see the required courses needed for transfer and match them to your current UC courses. You should also finish all GE’s required by your current UC and get a letter of reciprocity.
A Letter of Reciprocity is an official document that confirms that a student has satisfied all of the UC’s lower-division, general education requirements. Students who are transferring to another UC campus may request a Letter of Reciprocity in person from the Office of the Registrar free of charge.

Try this link to see UC to UC transfers… First click Trsfrs by yr and check UC to view the number of transfers from UC’s to a particular UC campus. You can see that the UC to UC numbers are lower (in general around < 10 to 15%) compared to CC to UC. CSU transfers to UC’s are even move difficult than UC to UC.

Correction: some UC to UC transfers are actually a little higher than 20 to 25%

This is a great tool @ucbuscalim - it is one of the few ‘favorites’ I have on my browser

You can also use the various tabs and radio buttons to show GPA threshold for the 25 accepted transfers from UCSC to UCLA (or any other combination) Though it also varies by major, you will need a 3.75+ GPA to be a competitive applicant for UCLA - perhaps a little lower from a CCC and a little higher from OOS.

So transferring to UCLA is actually quite “easy” comparing to the other campus under the transfer GPA by years? Also, how do you use assist.org, is confusing af.
