Does UCB compare you to people from your own high school?

This person says so - AskMsSun.com - Welcome to Ms. Sun's Admissions Guide to the Top UCs

If you are out of state and hardly anyone from your school applies to Berkeley, what does that mean?

Nothing, everyone who applied from my high school, out of state, got in. Don’t even worry about it (seriously).

I don’t know if this means anything, but I was the only one from my out of state school that applied to UCB. I got in.

You still need to be on par with students from your region. So it is not like you can get in, even if you were the only one from your school…because maybe the school down the street has 10 applicants who have applied and more qualified than you (and I mean not just academics but overall, as part of their holistic review process).
