Does UCB have any scholarship or financial aid for international students?

I am an international student from South Asia, and I am looking to apply to Berkeley. As far as I know, there is no financial aid for international students at public universities in the US. But I was wondering if there are any scholarships or bursaries for international students.
Thanks.

Sorry to disappoint you - nope. The best you can do is win some prizes: [UC Berkeley Financial Aid and Scholarships Office: Undergraduates » Types of Aid » Prizes & Honors](http://students.berkeley.edu/finaid/undergraduates/types_prizes.htm)

Or apply for need-based aid at the international office: internationaloffice.berkeley.edu (you don’t get much though, maybe $1000 for the year or none at all).

That is the most depressing thing I’ve heard today…Well, that might be because my day just started.

Btw, Regent’s and Chancellor’s Scholarships are not for international students?

Well, you need to have a SSN to file a FAFSA online, which is necessary for regent’s scholarships, etc. You can file a paper one with the office but from what I know, the chances of them accepting you is EXTREMELY slim since the budget cuts have realllllly tightened the UCs’ purse strings. Who knows, you might get denied simply because you applied for that and they need you to pay in full to offset the deficits, not take more money from them.

I know it’s depressing - I faced the same problems when I came (I’m international too) but oh well, it’s your choice after all. I’m graduating early to alleviate some of the financial woes.

There’s the merit-based leadership alumni scholarship, but the deadline has passed for this upcoming year. It is open to international students, but is only guaranteed for a year (for all recipients). You have to reapply every year.
