I applied for Software Engineering and put Mathematics as my alternate major. Will they consider me for mathematics if there is no room in SE or if I wasn't qualified for SE but am qualified for Mathematics?

Hmm…I’m not sure. I know for students in ULINK they consider it.

simple answer. they do!! and later you can change your major and go for SE. Math is a wate of time and money!!!

What?! I thought at UCs it is close to impossible to change ur majors

ya @zcarfaz can you explain how you are able to change major once transferring. Also, link a source…

Just go on google and type change of major criteria for UC___. Theres a criteria for each major and school.
Heres one for UCI:
[UCI Change of Major Criteria](http://www.changeofmajor.uci.edu)

For example, if you click biological sciences, it says you cannot switch to this major if you were not admitted to it. But you can change your major to others such as psychology or something like that

I applied to UCs as a transfer a year ago and did the TAG with UCI. I wanted to do the TAG and apply as Civil engineering but did not meet the requirement of Chem(2 semesters). My cc articulation and transfer officer called UCI admission counselor to ask about my issue and they told me to apply in as Mechanical Engineering(only requires 1 semester of chem) and then change it to Civil once I am there. This was told to me by an UCI admission counselor so It can’t be wrong. Don’t take my word just visit the campus and ask a counselor or email them. Don’t ask this kids at the counter. They know jack ****!! Some UCs have majors called impacted majors. those are the ones that you cannot changed in to. BTW I’m at UCSD now and like it very much. Just apply to UCSD too…
