Does UCLA have a Foreign Language requirement for undergrads?!?!?!

For the first two years of undergrad, do you have to take a foreign language?
*My prospective major is Biology

yes you need to take up to three quarters of a foreign language (level 3). However, you can take a placement test and place out of some or all of the requirement.

=/ test out of it like passing an AP or IB test, or test out of it as in passing a test when you get there, or either?

eitherone. yadadadadada

yah. pass AP test (not sure on score needed, you can look it up) or else take a placement test at orientation.
if you're placed into level 4 (ie, you made it through level 3) then you're set.
i was placed INTO 3 x.x

we don't have to take a foreign language in the first two years right?

no, you just have to take it before you graduate.
it's probably better just to get it out of the way, however, because languages really affect course scheduling (since they're one hour every single day)

Personally, I recommend that every student take a language. Especially if they plan on doing any sort of graduate work.

Want to do medicine? LEARN SPANISH.

Want to do a PhD? Learn German/Latin.

Want to do anything? Learn another language.

Seriously guys, it's worth it.

do I have to take a foreign language class if I completed IGETC (but did not take a foreign language for my humanities requirement) from a community college? by the way, I took 3 years of spanish in high school, if that matters

This is unfortunately true.

UCLAri: Can this requirement be completed while still at a CCC?

Yes, it can.
