Does UCLA really recommend a second year of OCHEM? I will be taking it after UC APPs.

So Im hoping to transfer to UCLA as a psychobiology major. My GPA is a 4.0 with all pre reqs done and I wont be doing Ochem 1 and the other Bio class until spring before i transfer, which means admissions wont see what grade I got before applying. It says two semesters of ochem "recommended’ ,does that mean my chances are low? Im a great student and got A’s in all my other science and math classes. Can someone please shed some light on this? Will i still be a competitive applicant?

you can call the dept undergrad advisor and ask, although I expect any response you get will be vague. So it’s worth specifically asking if they admitted xfer students this year that only had a semester instead of a full year of o-chem.

That said, I don’t know why you wouldn’t take the full year of o-chem at your CC. In order to be admitted into the major from the pre-major at ucla you’re going to need a 2-quarter sequence of o-chem and I can’t see how it is better to take the 1st part at your CC and the 2nd part at ucla when it may not align very well with what you have already learned.
