"Has anyone heard of someone completing TAP and not getting accepted?"

Yes, like a billion. TAP could have made the difference if he was placed against others with similar stats in many other respects, but TAP is hardly a panacea.

1/25 TAP students (or something like that) didnt get into UCLA last year. my comm college has a 3.5 gpa req for TAP certification, though, which i know is not standard.

There are still a few TAP students who didn't get into UCLA especially in impacted majors like business econ, bio... Also note that there is NO TAP for all ENGINEERING programs at UCLA.

TAP doesn't give you 100% chance but it boosts your chance a whole lot for sure! Many non-TAP students can also get in... besides, I'm very happy to be accepted to UCLA as well.

oh yeah I didn't do the TAP because I didn't know it until my second year so it was too late to apply but I encourage others to do the TAP which helps a lot for gaining admission to UCLA.

"1/25 TAP students (or something like that) didnt get into UCLA last year."

As I've said many times, those numbers mean nothing. The question is what difference TAP actually makes for a student with particular stats, not how many TAP students got in (because those students very likely could have gotten in without tap, given high stats).

Some students qualify for TAP with less than a 3.5, and then you are getting into a dubious area.

I have kinds of a bad shocking news:
I have just heard today that 3 of my friends in my bio course got rejected from UCLA;
1 has 4.0 GPA and UCSB offered him Regent scholarship (totally free, every cost is covered) but rejected by UCLA
1 has 4.0 GPA but also rejected by UCLA
1 has 3.8 GPA but also rejected by UCLA

While many of my other friends' friends who got around 3.5 GPA or even lower got in UCLA.

You know what... most of them including the ones with GPA 3.5 or lower apply for impacted same majors ... their majors are like Bio-chem, Bio, business econ, econ, engineering, computer science and so on.

If that is true then there are a number of other important factors--first and foremost the BASICS--when they completed the english and math requirements, IGETC, performance in those requirements, number of units, etc.

A UCLA admissions counselor told me TAP does not make much of a difference if you have a 3.6 or above gpa. She said they are looking for the best students tap or no tap. I talked to her earlier this week.
