Does UCSB or UCSD give a lot of financial aid for out of state students?

I live in Portland, Oregon. I like UCSB and UCSD but they’re public schools aka schools that typically don’t give a lot of financial aid to out of state students. For UCSB and UCSD, are there any out of state students who got a lot of financial aid (near full rides)? Are they known to give a lot of financial aid or something? Please help! Thank you in advance.

Very very little, if any, for OOS.

Expect to pay close to full fees $55K/year.

UCLA has a alumni scholarship, based on merit that OOS can compete for…

The UC’s are funded by taxpayers of California.

Those taxpayers expect that their children will reap some of the benefits of the high taxes and cost of living in California by having their children accepted by the instate schools. Taxpayers would not be thrilled to have their dollars going to OOS scholarships for kids whose parents haven’t paid a dime into the schools.

As the others have noted above, expect to pay full fees of $55K per year IF you are accepted by the UC’s.

Awww man that sucks oh well :frowning:

But, at least you had the presence of mind to ask about money.
We have a lot of students applying to the UC’s thinking:
“okay I’m OOS and have great stats, so I will apply and get great scholarships”
They apply and then are shocked that they get admitted and then get bills from the UC’s for full tuition.
