Does UCSB rescind for a D?

Honestly, my grades are awful. Right now I don't even have a 3.0 weighted, but I'm really hoping I can bring it up.

But even if I get a 3.0 weighted, I have a D in AP Calc AB.

I've read previous posts that one D for entire senior year is fine, but does that apply this year also? I'm not sure what to do.

you need a 3.0 and nothing below a C-. UCSB really have the right to rescind you… best thing you can do is email them and notify your situation. Talk to your teacher about your situation and plead for a C-

Yep, already did. He said there’s no way I’ll get a C-. He doesn’t round/curve anything at all.

well… good luck to you then. I know few kids last year who go rescinded from state schools and UCs and he had to take courses in community college and the transfer.

nocrackup, you already completed the A-G requirements for mathmatics, right?

If you did, then don’t sweat too much about it.

But about the 3.0 though, you HAVE to bring up your weighted GPA up at all costs. . .

I had a D in AP Calc BC this year and UCSB continued to honor their admission. As long as you have over a weighted 3.0 GPA and only one D the entire Senior year, you’ll be fine.

I would suggest dropping the class as well and replacing it with another math course if possible. In order for me to transfer to my school’s AP Stats class, I had to pass their semester final, and I had only one week to study for the material.

I ended up passing that final and my transfer was successful :).

Notify UCSB’s admissions office now. Earlier the better.

@THE
HAIRY
LEMON
So if i end up getting a D in my ap micro econ class, will I be screwed? is ap econ apart of the a-g requirements?

@mladenp if its an A-G you can’t graduate :o meaning you can’t go to college w/o a highschool diploma.

well a D in high school still gets u credit for the class…so i wuld graduate anyways , thats my issue is ap econ an a-g requirement or is it not?

I know AP Econ is an a-g requirement, the question is, did you already complete the A-G requirements in the A-G section AP Econ is classified under.

Ask your school counselor or check out the A-G requirements of the UC system.

I did complete A-G, but it seems like I’m not going to UCSB since I can’t bring up to the 3.0 weighted. This sucks

what! oh no. Did you ask around? So how does that work? Do you need to go to a 2 year college then transfer?

what about 2 D’s??
i got one last year second semester and was accepted so its really not a big deal…
and to clairify if you passed up to level 3 language u dont have to take one at UCSB??

UCSB has rule that I MUST have a 3.0 weighted I think. I have like a 2.67… So I’m guessing there’s no point in contacting any admissions officers since the rule isn’t flexible anyway…

It says to contact them immediately and explain your situation! You should email them or this weekend if you live close enough you should drive to SB and talk to someone PERSONALLY. That may help a lot. You didn’t work hard to get accepted to SB to get rescinded! Try your best to get out of this situation!

CONTACT THEM.

or I will terrorize you with my sour hairiness.

But really, do contact them.

I got a D (and knew I was gonna get a D) in AP English on the 2nd semester last year, so I contacted the admissions officer about this.

Eventually, I barely squeezed my way into keeping my admission.

And guess what? I graduated high school with 5 C’s and 3 D’s. lol

what a boss lemon.

Why, thank you help me please. :)

lol

Okay, just contacted through phone call and sent an email as requested… crossing my fingers that I won’t be rescinded.

no its cool… i got a D in AP CHEM and got seriously like a 2. something GPA last semester and i was ok… i just contacted them and explained my situation which was a dumb excuse like how i took so many APs and went to a tough high school blah blah bla
