Does UCSC admit by major?

I was under the impression UCSC does not admit Freshman by major, but today I got some new info that they do admit by major and don't even consider secondary major, which kidna worries me.

I applied to a Robotics Engineering Major with Astrophysics as my second major. Did I screw myself over?

For some context as to why I am worried, I have a 3.55 GPA with a 2000 SAT and 30 ACT so I feel iffy about my admissions even without applying to an impacted major.

Am I screwed?

UCSC does not admit by major BUT, they do consider engineering applicants separately and do have some additional requirements. From their admissions website ([Freshman Admission and Selection: 2014-2015](http://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/freshman.html))

Admission to Baskin School of Engineering majors
While all freshman applicants are considered for admission to the UC Santa Cruz campus under the campus selection criteria previously described, acceptance into engineering majors is based on high school GPA, courses completed in mathematics and sciences, scores on standardized tests, and/or the personal statement. Details can be found at ugrad.soe.ucsc.edu/admissions

I thought that you were supposed to list a major when you apply to UCSC. If so, what are the more “competitive” majors (meaning the ones where you need higher gpa, more people apply for, etc.)
