My dream schools are ucsd, uc Berkeley and ucsb. I recently took the sat after studying moderately and got only a 1940 (610 reading 730 math). My uc (weighted) gpa is 4.22 and unweighted is 3.85.

I'm hoping ucsd might look past my bad sat scores because my gpa is slightly above average?

Other stats:
Ap test scores:
Us history 5
Spanish language 4
Language and composition 3
Euro history 3

I'm taking ap calc and ap Econ this senior year.
I played soccer for a club 4 years and have a part time job.

Am I going to be admitted to ucsd even if my sat score is 90 points below the average? Or do I have to take it again, which I really don't know if i would improve very much if I did.
I was probably going to apply undeclared

I would suggest you try taking the SAT again, since UCSD becomes more competitive each year. Your GPA is solid and your EC’s are not bad, but having a higher SAT around 2100 would boost your chances.

You might take a look at last year’s acceptance thread to see what kind of stats got acceptance. Everything else looks good but your scores are a little low. UCSD admissions has become very difficult and unfortunately there are a lot of applicants with your GPA.

All UCs care more about GPA than about test scores. Among the UCs, UCSB is probably the most lenient towards students with high test scores (2200+/35+), but UCSB would still prefer a student with a high GPA and an average test score. Your GPA and SAT score are good enough for both UCSB and UCSD (you should still retake the SAT), but neither your GPA nor your SAT score are high enough for UC Berkeley. To have a good chance for UC Berkeley, you need a close to perfect unweighted GPA (preferably 4.0).

@Mangiafuoco Don’t you mean 2200+/33+? Those two are equivalent, after all…

@sallymeno11
Yes, sorry. I meant 33+.

Thanks for your input guys! Looks like im going to have to study up for the sat in December… Good do know I’m probably getting into ucsb though :)
