My friend wants me to come to ASU or FSU because they have "hot girls".

I told him I want to apply to better universities, and his reply was that undergraduate doesn't even matter, and so long I maintain good grades (and have good SAT scores from HS), I can get accepted into Ivys for my graduate degree.

Colleges look for diversity, meaning you don’t have to go to the best university to get accepted into an ivy league university for graduate studies, but you do need to have great grades. Your chances of getting into an Ivy League for graduate studies (grades permitting) are equal whether you go to FSU or NYU. But I wouldn’t base your college choice off of where your friend wants you to attend or if they have “hot girls”. My advice would be to apply and attend where you want to go. Better you go to the more “prestigious university” just in case half way through college you decide you no longer want to attend graduate school instead of going to the average university and decide to no longer want to attend graduate schooling.

It depends on what you want to do. Also, whether undergrad matters or not for grad school depends on the subject you’re studying as well (an Ivy philosophy PhD program seems to be heavily populated with other elite school undergrads, but STEM PhD programs take a lot of state school kids, because a lot of those schools are really strong in STEM fields; meanwhile, law schools seem to focus mainly on LSAT and GPA).
Finally, different schools have different strengths.

I say go to the best school for what you want to do (or are considering) that is a fit and works financially. Fit may include “hot girls” as well as school size and weather.

Without knowing your goals or details, its hard to give better advice.
