thanks

I don’t think so. I couldn’t find anything about ROTC (under than the LGBTQ’s “Righteously Outrageous Twirling Corp”) on the UChicago website, and this article from the Maroon says that there is no UChicago ROTC:

[ROTC bans counterproductive to theircause - The Chicago Maroon](http://www.chicagomaroon.com/2007/6/1/rotc-bans-counterproductive-to-their-cause)

There’s also a CC post from January this year that says the same thing.

but if someone wants to do rotc, can they do it at another nearby campus?

I think yes, at UIC (University of Illinois - Chicago – the college most often confused with the University of Chicago), but (a) you may not consider that “nearby”, (b) look it up, because I’m not sure, and (c) remember that most colleges use semesters rather than quarters, so the timing may not be super-convenient.

you can do it at another campus nearby but as JHS said, look into it. In the Chicago area there is Army but maybe also Navy. Scheduling and time commitments should be considered.

At UIC, if you wanted to do Navy/Air Force ROTC, you have to go down to IIT. UIC is a semester school.

UChicago hippies/peace-loving hipsters chased ROTC off campus years ago. Caveat about looking into ROTC at other places, the quarter system messes with scheduling a bit sometimes.

Northwestern has Navy ROTC

[Northwestern University - NROTC](NAVAL RESERVE OFFICERS TRAINING CORPS – Just another NUsites site)

So silly to post about what one doesn’t know. And especially such a facile but incorrect statement. ROTC was ended at the U of C in 1936, long before there were hippies or hipsters and when peace was not an issue. Probably because Robert Maynard Hutchins himself thought it was a bad idea. But FWIW it resumed in 2016.
