Does University of Delaware have any repercussions for submitting Deposits after April 1?

I am a senior in high school. Penn State, Udel, and JMU are my top schools right now, and I have gotten into all of them. Today, I received a postcard from Penn State that stated,
“To accommodate interested students, we use Supplemental Housing. First-year students who accept the offer of admission after April 1 will be assigned to this space.”
When I go to college, I want to have a typical 1-roommate dorm room. Therefore, I was wondering if the University of Delaware has anything similar. I know that they have dorm rooms with two roommates, so will you be assigned to one of those if you submit your acceptance past a certain date?

Unless things change ths year UD has never given priority for Housing depending on when a students initial acceptance deposit is received or when their subsequent housing deposit is received (as long as it is in by the deadline). Honors students are housed together. Students can submit a housing request form related to their choice of roommate, dorm priority, etc. but there is no guarantee these requests will be approved. In the past certain majors tend to be housed together as well. For example biology majors have been housed together in suite like rooms on the Laird (North) campus the past few years. Most of the freshman housing is in new/renovated dorms completed over the last few years.

I agree… one of the best things about UD is there is no penalty for not sending your deposit in up until the last day… you are not being held “hostage” by a school trying to get your to send your deposit in early to ensure better housing, etc… you are at no disadvantage by submitting your deposit as long as you have it in by the deadline…

As a freshman at UD, there are two different living situations (for non-honors students.) You can live in a triple in a newer dorm, a triple in a newer dorm on North campus which is suite style or you can live in a standard double. The standard double does not have AC and the dorms are older and not as nice. I live on North campus in a suite style! It is very nice because we have AC and the private bathroom is awesome. But, the walk to main campus is very far and inconvenient.
If you choose UD, consider this when filling out your housing survey. They will ask you if you prefer suite style or not. If you choose suite style and you get it, you will be in a triple. If you choose the standard communal bathroom, you have a better chance of being in a double. If you apply to the honors program, you will be in a double!
