<p>You are correct, any time you see “strongly encouraged” or similar language, you are crazy not to take the recommended action if you want to be a competitive applicant! The exact language is: </p>

<p>Note that it’s absolutely “required” for some honors programs.</p>
<p>If you’re an auto admit (top 8% Texas HS), the resume will help you get into your first choice.</p>
<p>If you’re not an auto admit–whether from Texas, out of state or international–your application will be decided by holistic review of grades, test scores, EC’s, etc., so your resume can only help.</p>
