I'm planning to send a video of my dance choreography

I sent in my music supplement by putting my performance on a CD. I then gave it to my guidance counselor who then sent it to Penn along with my school report, transcript etc. Admissions do look at everything so send in a substantial (but appropriate) amount of supplements.

Good luck and hope to see you at Penn!

“Admissions do look at everything so send in a substantial (but appropriate) amount of supplements.”

Hunh? Send in a lot? Where’d you get that idea? “the thicker the file, the thicker the kid”

Send in a DVD with a few minutes of highlights. Edit edit edit. They won’t pore through minutes and minutes of fluff.

^cannot emphasize that enough. admissions readers have thousands of files to go through. any unnecessary content should be eliminated.

What I meant to say was to send in your supplement that highlights your choreography, or whatever talent you choose to showcase in the appropriate amount of time. Three minutes would probably be enough.

I sent in a CD of me playing a cello piece that lasted about two and a half minutes.

@T26E4, I didn’t mean to add an s at the end of the word “supplement.” Sorry for the confusion.

I sent in a 15 min. video presenting a summer research project I completed. I was accepted. I honestly think the video helped a lot.

for RD last year i sent in a three minute video showing highlights of my medical mission, i think it really showed how passionate i am about volunteer service and medicine.

unless its a substantial (like wordy, where you have to explain concepts and what you found) thing like research or something, i would suggest keeping your video less than five minutes long, three minutes being optimal. there’s a fine line between not presenting yourself well enough to admissions and going overboard with excessive fluff. i definitely think you should send a video in, but like other posters said, edit it and make it as short as you can but not so short that you are not able to really showcase your talent!

also, i burned mine onto a DVD and sent it in the mail :)
