Does Upenn track interest?

When my admissions counselor came to my school, he had us fill out these information sheets about us and give it to him. Does Upenn use this? Like if you visited there and attended a info session, do they know that you did that and will they take that into consideration when evaluating your application?

No, Ivy-league colleges don't track interest.

Yes. Columbia and Penn both do this a lot. They will waitlist applicants who they don't think will attend.

Dionysus, how sure are you about this? I'm pretty sure they wouldn't waitlist an applicant just because they don't have him recorded down for an info session or campus tour. But then again im not the adcom.

Penn may do this for the top applicants who could very well get into HYPS (hence the stories about kids getting into Harvard but rejected from Penn), but I doubt that they would do this to someone applying ED.

Ok..why ELSE would they ask for a photo of you?
They definitely care about interest; they want to match faces that have been interested enough to accost them with the applications they are reading.

^but how do you expect an adcom to remember a majority of the people s/he sees at info sessions?

No, this would apply for the bold ones who went up to the adcoms after the session and introduced themselves

The photo applies to the ones who go up to their office for a little chat. Penn is interested in those people (I think).

My friend, who applied to the Vagelos program, took our regional adcom out for lunch or something similar. In his case, the photo really works for him doesnt it?

My question is...suppose I visited Philly now, and went to a Penn tour or info session. Would they have me write down my name so they would know I went on that tour and info session, and would adcoms have access to that info?

The blue cards that you fill out are only to put you on the mailing list. Way too many people visit, email, etc. to track interest.

They definitly DON'T track interest. If they did, I would at least be waitlisted.
