does UR take the highest ACT subscore and combine them to make a new composite?

just like the title

no, I was not aware that any schools did. Generally the composite from each test is used and you can send whichever composite you want without the college seeing how many times you've taken the ACT. Send the scores that show off your strengths, since they can still see the subscores. Send both sets if you did better in certain sections in each one, yet not badly in anything in either one.

Yeah, I know that was confusing... let me try an example:

ACT
test date 1/06
science 30
math 30
reading 25
english 25

test date 2/06
science 29
math 29
reading 27
english 26

In my opinion, I would send both of these, since the high numbers haven't changed much, but the lower numbers have. Idk-- for a second opinion go to petersons.com they have a weekly chat and it's free. The college counselors really know what they're talking about, so if you give them specifics, they would definitely be able to help.

Good luck :)

What about
April:
English: 26
Math: 29
Reading 29
Science: 24

Dec:
English 34
Math: 34
Reading : 20!!
Science 27

I usually write my answers on my test book and then fill in the bubbles later. But that day I skipped on space, so i had to spent half of the time erasing and refilling bubbles. should i explain that on the "provide additional info" part of the application?

hmmm that could be something important to say, eepcailly b/c there's such a huge difference. I personally think that you should send both scores to show your proficiency in reading, since a 20 makes you appear almost illiterate... well, maybe not that bad :)

I would call admissions actually, since it is kind of a unique scenerio. I doubt rochester would penalize you for screwing up on the actualy mechanics of the test, especially b/c they're very holistic in their approach.

Did you actually screw up bubbling or did you fix it and run out of time because of it? If you actually misbubbled, you can contact ACT and I think they will be able to adjust your score if your answers are right.

i fixed like the first 5 and had to guess the rest cause i had like 1 min left
