Does USC admissions care about demonstrated interest?

I'm very interested in USC - especially in the half tuition scholarship for national merit finalists. However, my parents won't fly my across the country to visit a college unless I have already been admitted. Some schools, like WashU, really hold this against you. What about USC?

If you put USC as your first choice when you were elected to NMS, you will be on its radar.

Good point, that is probably worth something. Almost a financial ED.

And there is the other problem - getting my parents to let me put $20,000 on the line for a school I haven’t visited.

You can visit once you are admitted. Why worry now?
My daughter’s friend did not visit and got into USC early(early Feb).

Other ways to show USC you are interested without visiting: Submit the Part 1 application as soon as it is available in July [Freshmen - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/freshmen.html). Arrange for an interview in your area (if there is one near enough) - be sure to reserve early (September?) because slots fill up. The off-campus interviews are held in these cities:
