Yes, very much. You apply to a major.
And that selection of a major or majors could lead to an admission rate differential from as low as 2% to potentially as high as the high teens. You can attempt to be admitted Undeclared or try to apply to up to two major choices. To gain admission, you need to be accepted by USC generally and to the specific school housing that first or second major that selects you. Alternatively, you could also be admitted to USC as Undeclared… if both your first and second choice major decline but the university overall admits you. That latter scenario happened to my younger daughter in 2017… but she enrolled anyhow and quickly transferred internally into what had been her second choice major selection.

I’m applying as a lifespan health major, so I would be applying to USC Davis School of Gerontology. There is not much information out there on how competitive this school is.
