Does USC's Application Have A Section For Grades.....

or do we just send them our transcript??

confused

Page 6: List courses completed in support of your requested major

Page 2: List current courses in progress (question 7 in activity summary section)

Not for transfer students.
You must request transcripts to be sent to USC for every college attended asap. Before the deadline, that is.

is it possible for us to send these transcripts on our own

The transfer college transcript coversheet here
https://camel.usc.edu/admapp_pdf/Transfer.Transcript.Cover.pdf
just says to attach an OFFICIAL sealed & stamped transcript. So I guess, there's no problem sending transcripts yourself. I'm submitting the transcripts along with the rest of the supplemental info in one large package bc I don't want it to get lost, personally.

However, for the high school records the form
https://camel.usc.edu/admapp_pdf/Transfer.HS.Transcript.pdf
says 'Use this form to have your school send us your final records.' So be careful with that one, if you're still paranoid like me request one to be sent directly to USC Admissions and one for yourself, just in case it gets lost.

The college should send the transcripts on your behalf.

If you go to a community college the school will NOT send transcripts on your behalf if you didn't request them! Lol. Seriously.

what are all supplemental materials

Transcript
Letters of Rec
HS Transcript

is there anything else?

i really need to get into USC...my dad and cousin went there

oh and thanks Woman.Of.Troy

I had to submit a one page letter of intent for PR but you pretty much got it.

p.s. I really want-need-prefer to get in too! Good luck!

Woman.Of.Troy.: How could a school send a transcript without you requesting it first? =P

I meant that you should not have the school send the transcripts to you, and then you send them to USC. They should be sent directly from your current institution to USC on your behalf. Otherwise, there's a possibility of tampering.

^^^ are you serious....so you're saying all supplemental materials must be sent from your current institution???

lol. ok, I thought you meant the school would do it for you. my response: yeah, riiight. lol. I'm doing both, tho USC doesn't seem to indicate a preference except for the high school records as mentioned in the above links.

Black Rep: official transcripts should be sent by the school. I don't see why they wouldn't do this. If they can send it to you, they can send it to USC. However, there may be a fee.

Recommendations, if applicable, should be mailed by the writer. It's a common courtesy to provide them with the stamp and addressed envelope.

Best of luck :)

Woman of Troy and Twenty8, I'm sorry to be critical here, but the information you are giving here is completely incorrect.

On the Transfer form, page 6 (the one you attach to the transcript you send), and the first link you provide, it says to "list the courses that you have completed in support of your major (which includes prerequisites, required courses, and electives" and it tells you to attach the college transcript to the form.

So the point is that you have to list the courses and you have to then attach the transcript.

The reason for this is pretty clear in my view;--the adcoms want to know which courses on the transcript you are using in support of your application and which ones are non-transferable courses or courses that do not apply and should not be looked at in support of your application.

This is obviously why the adcoms don't want the transcripts (for transfer candidates) to be sent directly to USC. They indicate right on the form that they are to be attached to this form and submitted by the transfer candidate.

I presume that if you have more courses than fit on the sheet (since there are only about 9 lines on the form), then you should either list them on an additional form, or attach a separate sheet of paper listing all courses applying to the major.

Also, on the page 2 (which is the one marked "Personal Information"), the very last question--question 7 of the "Activity Summary" section--asks that the transfer applicant list on a separate sheet of paper which courses are still in-progress in support of the application (which ones meet required prerequisites like the Writing requirement or a General Education requirement, etc.). If a candidate who has not completed the mandatory requirements (like the Writing course) and who is currently taking it does not fill out this section, they will undoubtedly be rejected outright.

Your answers above imply that an applicant simply has the schools send the transcripts and ignore these instructions--which I'm quite sure will not help their application one bit.

P.S. All transcripts submitted have to be signed and sealed--which is how they prevent tampering. Also, the school will have to submit the Cal Grant memo that requires them to sign off on the GPA directly to the California Grant organization--who sends this to USC--so that is also a protection against tampering. The high school transcripts are to be sent directly to USC, though.

Don't shoot the messenger! At any rate BlackRepublican, it seems like you are getting conflicting messages. Like I did, I suggest you call into USC Admissions and have them tell you what to do especifically because there are lots of people on College Confidential that although willing to help, can also sometimes confuse. Best of luck.

Sorry if I can across overly harsh--I just want people to have the correct info (same as you do, I'm sure).

thanks calcruzer and woman.of.troy i am pretty sure what to do now...

have my hs send my transcript(which i did today)
All other supplements can be sent by the applicant

Thanks guys

lol. No way, Calcruzer whenever something sounds too random I just always call. I probably just ask things here to get a quicker response anyway. I'll be so relieved when this app. is over! :)
