Hello fellow CC'ers! I'm wondering about any Honors Programs at the University of Texas at Austin. It's my safety school, but it's highly regarded so I have no doubt that if I matriculate at UT Austin, I'd have a great undergrad experience! Any help is appreciated(-:

Yes they have many different honors programs:

What are you planning on majoring in?

UT has honors programs in various colleges, but they also have a pure honors program within the College of Liberal Arts called the Plan II (“Plan Two”) program. Your major would be Plan II Honors, but from my experience, about 40% of Plan II majors also double-major in a conventional field. Admissions to Plan II can be very competitive – being in the Top 8% (or even Top 1%) doesn’t guarantee acceptance to Plan II.

and they suggest that you start turning in the honors apps tomorrow

so…

OP, Plan II has an absolutely outstanding reputation. For what it’s worth, everything I’ve heard about the program here on CC has said it’s like getting an Ivy League education. Do yourself a favor and look into it. (I’m a parent in California with no connection to UT, so I’m not just talking up my own child’s school :))
