I think I have a solid chance of getting into UT but so far my grades this year are less than stellar. I was wondering does UT even look at first semester senior grades? Don't they have enough to deal with the massive amount of applicants that they would have the time to double check the 7,000 accepted students grades for senior year? That seems very unlikely to me but my counselor told me they do consider them. I am skeptical about thatbecause the school staff is not just going to say "it does not matter make straight C's and you'll be alright". What do yall think/have heard about this subject?

i dont know i’m just HOPING that they do … My grades freshman through junior year weren’t that good but I’m going all out this year trying to increase my chances… I’m taking 8 AP classes and making all As and Bs.

John, I’ve never heard of anyone getting their admission rescinded and I know quite a few people who got a few C’s their Senior year. Don’t take this as a ticket to blow everything off though. AP credit is a huge deal, easily bigger than your post-application grades. Even if you don’t get the credit, you’ll likely be taking similar courses once you get here and the knowledge you’ll have gained beforehand will make your time at UT a lot easier. Oh and trust me, free time in college is a lot more valuable than free time in high school.

JD, I’m sorry but I don’t think anything you do Senior year can change your application in the positive direction. Grades never matter until after your finals are done and by then it’s Summer, far too late to restart and give applicants a second chance. I wish you good luck but I don’t want you to have any false hope.
