Does UT engineering care about which Calculus you take? Early release?

Should I take Calculus BC or Calculus AB? I chose BC but at the same time I wonder whether or not its worth it since I going to have to calculus in college anyway in order to get a good foundation for math. So does cockrell prefer applicants with BC or applicants with AB? Also I wish to take early release so I can go work, but I am worried that UT will think that I’m just being lazy. Did any engineering majors get in with Calculus AB or early release?

DS was admitted to ME for fall. Late start and early release in senior year, with calc BC though. He will not take the AP credit for it even if he gets a 5.

@beyondtx Did he already have good stats?

I know someone who was admitted to Honors Engineering at UT without taking any calculus at all. However, he had extraordinarily amazing extra-curricular activities. He had a 34 ACT total with a 35 on the math section. He was doing a half-day senior year schedule with work in the afternoons. He had taken Pre-Cal junior year but did not take a math senior year. He was admitted to Electrical & Computer Engineering.

@NotTop8Percent he was 15% at a competitive HS with upward trend from a bad freshman year. 2190 sat. 4 years of PLTW engineering electives and TSA national competitor, which showed sustained interest in the major. And he had good essays and really great recs. If you are not 8%, really concentrate on scores first, plus all of the holistic elements.
