I just submitted by application. I initially thought that it wasn't due until Monday, even though the listed deadline was December 1st, since the website said: "When the published deadline falls on a weekend, the ApplyTexas application remains open until midnight (Central time) on the following Monday." However, after December 1st had passed, I looked at the deadlines on the ApplyTexas website, and it said that UT was accepting applications for Fall 2013 on a "space-available basis." Does this mean my application won't be considered like a normal application? Additionally, would they still give me scholarship consideration? I would have submitted the App earlier, but I had another December 1st deadline for a different college that I ended up spending lots of time on (I'm a procrastinator, I know :/).

My understanding is that it is just what they say, space-available. They feel that if you can’t be bothered to apply by the deadline, you will not get the same consideration of those who do apply timely. I can’t answer your question about scholarships. Good luck with your first choice!

Is the transcript for UT supposed to be sent through mail or online?

I feel you gbox. I was not… late, in a way. I submitted my application last week, but I thought the transcript for UT was online as with my other colleges, so I requested it with my guidance counselor and she said it was pretty much good to go. Then, I check Friday and Saturday and today on the MyStatus and it says my application is incomplete because of the transcript. Besides the transcript I had pretty much done everything on time, and if this makes me not considered I would be quite disappointed as UT is one of the main schools I’m looking at.

UPDATE: I received an email confirmation from the UT Office of Admissions saying that they have received my application. On the MyStatus Page, it is saying that “My application for admission is complete” and that they “have all the items [they] need to make [my] admissions decision.”

Thewrongvine- If the transcript was sent physically, it can take a while for them to update it because they have to process all of the documents. Anecdotally, my counselor has reassured us that as long as the school sent it in before the date, they are typically willing to work with the school/believe you/you yourself will not be penalized.

Purpleacorn, thanks for the answer. Hmm, unfortunately I did not physically mail it myself, as I believed it was done electronically with my counselor already, though of course I am to blame for not researching it further I suppose. I will call the admissions office today to see if I can still send it in.

wrongvine, you cannot send the transcript in yourself. It has to be by the school, either through the mail or electronically. When did you request the counselor to send the transcript?
