Does UVa look at weighted class rank by any chance? The reason is because I might be out of the top 10% with around a 3.8/3.75 UW because I'm taking an IB Diploma courseload, but if they weight it, I would probably be in or near top 5%, and definately top 10%. So does anyone have any info about this?

Also, I did pathetically on an AP test, so does this score automatically get sent to colleges I apply to (I don't recall sending my score for free prior to the exam, execpt maybe my instate schools)? This sounds dumb, but I've heard that collegeboard (booooooooooooooo) sends all SAT, SAT 2, and AP test scores when you report them to colleges. Am I wrong, or am I screwed because of an AP test?

It depends on your high school. In the school report your counselor fills out and mails in with your transcript, there is a checkbox for whether the rank is weighted or unweighted. Most of the time, schools list the weighted rank, but I could be wrong.

AP scores don't do anything for admissions, it is optional to fill them out. The only time any school uses them is to give credit or not.

My school had both weighted and non weighted GPAs and they only filled out the weighted one when it came to class rank, when your counselor fills out the form you could possibly talk to them about it.

Oh and I am pretty sure that when you send SAT scores that only the SAT scores are on the report and that you opt to send AP scores when you are filling out the information on the exams in May. So I think that the report sheets are different, any time I receive any of my reports it is only AP or only SAT but again, UVa doesn't use AP scores for admissions it says on their website somewhere

class rank is obviously very important, probably most important. your GPA only means something in context with your class rank. even though many schools dont rank now, most colleges ask the guidance counsellor to estimate your rank to a percentile.
