Does UW feel like a commuter school?

Here's a quote from an old collegeconfidential post about UW, calling UW a Commuter School. Aren't there over 5000 students living on campus? Does UW have a commuter school feel in that it seems like everyone goes home on weekends? or are there enough people from far enough away that there are people on campus on the weekend?

"Lets list some of UW's pros and cons:
Pros:
In-state tuition
Great medical school
Beautiful campus
Cherry blossoms in the spring
Honors College
Cons:
Dorms that feel and look like dungeons
Overenrolled classes
Generally, every problem that plagues large state universities such as being impersonal, etc.
Top university but not necessarily Top25
Commuter School"

S is in his second year, lives on campus, has no complains about weekends. There is always something to do on campus or around it. There is also the whole city to enjoy.

The area around campus - dorms, greek houses, rental houses - is busy day and night, all week long. Sure, some students live at home, but there's a vibrant on and near-campus life. They don't all live on campus for 4 years, but there's lots of rental housing nearby.
