Does verification slow down fin aid ?

We got selected for verification (at least several schools said we did and sent us a form to fill out, which we did in February) of FAFSA, although the SAR report did not indicated this. I think some schools verify everyone from what I've heard. The only school (out of 6) that we have gotten a package from was an early action acceptance that used PROFILE. We haven't gotten a package yet from any of the other schools, although most have indicated receiving FAFSA. Is this late to be hearing, or are most of you waiting for packages still? (I was wondering if the verification slowed things down -- we submitted FAFSA January 4--can't do much better than that.)

I was wondering the same. Selected also. Only one school called and requested copies of my taxes. When I called the schools they said not to mail anything that they would request form and copies later. I only received one package from a profile school. How can you make a decision without knowing the financial picture?

i dunno. my school hasn't contacted me about verification.

Has your school given you a financial aid packet? What I am wondering is , does verification slow things down? (My numbers will match my FAFSA so everything will verify fine, I just think the extra time might put my son at the end of the line for aid--which would limit his school choices. Since this was a random verification that 1 in 3 FAFSA filers are subject to , that would be very unfair--so I have to hope schools don't let that happen. ) This is our first child doing this and I followed all the advice about filing early (Profile in November, FAFSA on Jan 4) . But random is random and it is going to be someone.

It only slows it down if you do not turn in the proper forms they request on-time.
