Hello everyone,

I have applied RD to a number of ivy leagues. While most are very far from me, I am considering making the drive to visit them. Will visiting help my chances? Also, when I visit, is it important to take a tour? Should I visit the admissions office?

I intend to sit in on a class. If I impress a professor by talking to him/her after, are they likely to contact admissions?

I am looking for tips for visiting and would like to get a feeling for whether you think it will help my chances and is worthwhile.

Thank you!

I don’t think it will influence your chances of getting in in any way.

Depends on the school. Look in the school’s admissions entry at http://www.collegedata.com to see if “level of applicant’s interest” is considered. If so, having a visit recorded may be seen as “showing interest” in the school.

If the visit is in any way a hardship, I’d say don’t bother. You’re one month away from announcement day. If you don’t have an extraordinary application I’d think your app is already in the round file. No one’s going to dust it off because you visited. If it will make you feel better, drop a dime.
