In your opinion does visiting the college you are applying to boost your chances of getting in. Some of my friends say that by visiting the college, it shows that you are serious about attending and have thought it over, especially if you are an out of state applicant.

Also will attending a college's high school summer program boost your chances as well? (Example Duke's TIP, Boston University's PROMYS etc.)

I don't know about Duke, by I do know that displaying interest does help with admissions in some schools. I would assume that it probably is more significant for the borderline prestigious-type schools that don't want the best applicants just using them as a safety. I do know for a fact, though, that visting Emory is a big boost for admissions. At their focus session (that's what they call their information session, no idea why) the admission officer himself stated that displaying interest in Emory is very important to them, and that the best way to do this is to visit. He said that by filling out the little information card at the front desk, we had showed significant interest, and that this would leave a good impression on the adcom. That was probably more info than you needed, but I hope it helps.
