Does WashU require the Writing test with the ACT?

Their FAQ (<a href="http://admissions.wustl.edu/admissions/ua.nsf/3rd%20Level%20Pages_FAQ_FAQ_General.htm?OpenPage&charset=iso-8859-1#SAT%5B/url%5D">http://admissions.wustl.edu/admissions/ua.nsf/3rd%20Level%20Pages_FAQ_FAQ_General.htm?OpenPage&charset=iso-8859-1#SAT</a>) says the writing test is optional:

Which is it? Thanks.

the admissions officer i met over the summer that it was not required. However, i am pretty sure that you want to take the writing ACT. They definitely want to see that you were willing to go out of the way to take the extra portion on the ACT

Thanks for the response. I was planning on taking the writing test anyway; I was just curious if it was actually required or not.

I just realized today that ACT has information on which colleges require the writing test here: <a href="http://actrs19.act.org/writPrefRM/goSearchInst.do%5B/url%5D">http://actrs19.act.org/writPrefRM/goSearchInst.do</a> According to that, WashU does require it. So many conflicting sources...
