Does weighted GPA matter (in this way)?

I am a junior looking to apply to colleges next year. My unweighted GPA is a 4.0, and in the calculation of weighted GPAs, my school system interprets an A in an AP class as 5 points out of 4. My district allows you to take high school classes in middle school, but you can drop these from your transcript at a later date if you choose to. I got A’s in these classes (five of them), but when factored into my weighted GPA, they bring it down from a 4.3 to a 4.2. If I can easily take these off my record, should I? It will make my weighted GPA better, and there are many kids at my school vying for the same colleges as me that have GPAs of 4.3-4.5 (highly motivated students, some grade inflation). Thoughts? My best guess would be that it doesn’t really matter, I’m just curious what others have to say.

It won;t matter either way. Colleges do not look at your weighted GPA since there is no common metric. They will either look at your UW GPA,or will weight according to their own parameters. Your weighted GPA really only matters for internal HS purposes.

Thanks

But if your school reports class rank and this action would move you up, it seems beneficial to do so.
