I was reading the Orientation book, and it said only North Campus has assigned times, people in West can move in whenever they want.

But then I got a little unloading pass thing with an assigned time by my last name.

Which is it?

if you move in on august 22nd (the day ALL dorms open) then yes you have a move-in time…

if you get there after the 22nd…you move in at your own pace…

Yes…you do have a move in time…and it is enforced!!!

That’s odd…why did it say in the book that’s only for North Campus and West Campus could move in anytime?

On move-in day there is an assigned time…the other days there isn’t

I thought the move-in times on the 22nd were just for the incoming students? Can returning students move in at any time?

EDIT: [Housing - Housing Home](<a href=“Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University) says that all first-year and transfers need to move in at specific times, but mentions nothing of returning students…?

Then again, I plan to move in at the “right time” anyway, just by coincidence…

Returning students are asked not to arrive to their dorms until after move in day…so I guess that’s the 23rd this year

yeah! i was a bit confused about this too. On one of the housing letters Cornell sent us, it says “Please plan to move in any time on Friday, August 22 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.” Then just under that it say move in time blocks have been assigned…A-G 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, etc…
so still confused somewhat

Except that Engineering Peer Advising requires me to move in on the 22nd since there’s an organizational meeting at 4:30 pm. So… For circumstances that require presence on the 22nd, should I follow the times or not?

Honestly…I’m not sure how it will work for returning students. If you’re really that concerned…contact housing to inform them of your circumstance. I’m sure it’ll be no big deal.
