Technically, the real season is in the spring where you compete against other schools outdoors.

Winter track is pretty much optional official conditioning for the spring season where we condition at our high school, but there is no high school meets; however there are indoor meets high schoolers can go to at local universities so you are basically competing against the timer and other individuals.

Then there is "Summer Track", but you don't see your high school coach or go to your high school at all. It's basically for the best runners to go to AAU Camps and Tournaments to hopefully get recruited.

In my common app, should I list them as 3 different EC's or just a single EC?

Bonus Question:
Does this look better or worse than being a 3 different sport athlete?

I’d list it once. The common app asks you to list the time commitment per week, and the number of weeks per year, So listing 3 times for 12 weeks a year is the same as listing once for 36 weeks a year (or whatever it is). If the hours per week vary by season, compute an average.

IMO, 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Assuming similar time commitments/accomplishment/leadership, it’s a wash.

Wouldn’t sticking with just track all year round show more commitment and passion, and probably more accomplishment?
Quality over quantity right?

Being on varsity for 3 different sports but never making it to state
or just do 1 sport but your on varsity and made it to state junior and senior year?

One can be a top football player and still be on a mediocre team or a mediocre player on a top team, so for team sports, it’s a little difficult to say. But for individual sports, placing at state can say a lot.

Sports are just a good EC if you aren’t recruitable. So it doesn’t matter that much if you do one all year or 3. Since it is too late for you to decide to do 3 it is just a ludicrous question. It doesn’t matter. But listing track as 3 things is silly. You are also using up room to list other things, if you have them.
