If I withdraw my application now (12/16/12) and the decisions are released on 12/18/12, would withdrawing my application cause another student in my school who would have been rejected/deferred to be accepted?

It might or might not depending on other applicants.

So a student from a different school would/might be accepted? That would be great too.

Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention. Lets assume that I would be accepted by the college.

Generally would tend to be verrrrry unlikely. Analagous to voting or not voting for an official changingnn election.

I don’t think it will. Many times, the decisions are made well in advance, so unless if you withdraw a long time before notification, there won’t be a difference.

You would not be taking another persons spot by not withdrawing IMO. The school would go to the wait list or unreject somebody but it would function like a business would.

Ps. Commendable to be thinking along these lines.

It wont make a difference for EA/ED.
